nAcute communicable viral disease
nCharacterized by
ØPapulovesicular pustular rash
ØSevere systemic symptoms

nClinical manifestations
nEtiology : genus Orthopox virus
     -Incubation period : 12 – 14 days – 21 days
     - Prodromal symptoms
                 - Severe, abruptly 
     - Eruption : faces, lips, palms, soles
     - Papules         vesicles umbilicated multiloculus
     - 5th – 6th day      pustular      9th day     crusta
     - 3rd – 4th wk      scars

Complications :
   
ØPyogenic infections
ØBronchopneumonia
ØViral osteomyelitis  
ØCentral nervous systems

nTreatment
      ØNo effective specific therapy
nProphylaxis
      ØVaccination
